Welcome
The past few years have seen an increase in awareness and response to homelessness in Rock Hill. Since 2007 the United Way, Salvation Army, City of Rock Hill, York County, and others, have coordinated to provide several services, including the Men's Warming Center located at Bethel United Methodist Church.
The Warming Center opens during the winter months, from 6pm to 7am, seven days a week. Men are provided a warm meal and bed, along with a safe space for fellowship and rest. Any male 18+ is admitted as long as he abides by our behavioral covenant. For info or to help, call the church office at (803) 327-4881, or email at bethelrockhill@gmail.com.

The shelter operates from the church gym: volunteers serve meals out of the kitchen; the men dine in the main gym; and the guests' living space is upstairs.
Bethel is a member of the Rock Hill District of the United Methodist Church, and was organized here in the Aragon Mill area over 100 years ago.

Want to Volunteer?
Be present as an extra pair of hands, or in conversation and fellowship; Help maintain shelter space with routine cleanup, repair and renovation; Offer services to help the guests with job acquisition, housing, counselling, rehabilitation, education; and hopefully much more. Here are some examples of ongoing volunteer needs:
- Laundry helpers to wash guests' linens regularly. Cover the cost and/or labor of going to a laundromat, stripping and remaking the beds.
- Cleanup crews to help keep the shelter space neat, hygienic, and comfortable. From time to time we can use some deep cleaning.
Food Volunteers
The shelter will be open 90+ nights. Imagine the cost/labor of feeding up to 20 guys per night. So individuals and groups from all over our area will be sharing the task.
Want to help with meals? Here are the options:
- Prepare or buy a meal enough for twenty guests, then come and serve dinner at 6pm when the doors open.
- Bring "to-go" food for the guys to take away in the morning (i.e. crackers, snack bars, etc.).
- Join the waiting list to provide a "back-up" meal in an emergency.
